their Rush Program that netted a record 20 new Freshmen Pledges
and will serve as a model for all future Rush Programs |
Anyone who attended our Homecoming
Stockholders Meeting (previously know as our Alumni
Corporation Meeting) saw first hand that there's been some
major changes underway at PA Theta. As part of our Leadership
Initiative, our chapter is now under new management. Our Actives
have now been empowered to run our chapter. Under the guidance
of our Alumni, our Actives are taking operational and financial
control of our chapter back from our Alumni - the way things used
to be prior to the late 60's. Our meetings, from now on referred
to as Stockholders Meetings instead of Alumni Corporation
Meetings, are now run by our Actives, not by our Alumni as
in the past.

Based on the Actives exceptional performance
at our Homecoming Meeting and the incredible results they've achieved
in the last two years, it's clear that our plan is working and
that PA Theta is on-track to emerge as one of the best run fraternities
in the country and the top fraternity on the Penn Sate Campus.
Please join us for our upcoming Blue-White Stockholders
Meeting and see for yourself. Our meetings are now fun,
fast-paced, informative, inspiring and will make you Proud
to be a Phi!
Our Stockholders Meetings...
As a critical component of our Leadership
Initiative, we will now have three stockholders meetings per year.
The first at the beginning of the school year, the second during
Homecoming Weekend, and the third during Blue-White Weekend.

Your role
as an Active...
All actives and pledges are required to attend.
All Active Officers will create and deliver a presentation outlining
your priorities, goals and accomplishments. Include the steps
you've taken to improve the office and your plan to train others
to carry on. If facing a difficult issue and need some help, present
the issue, your research, possible options, your recommendation
and ask our alumni for input and advice. Remember to invite your
parents and families - they are welcome and encouraged to attend.

| Our Alumni watch and
listen as our Active Leaders present the State of the Chapter |
Your role
as an Alum...
As a stockholder in our organization, your
job is to attend and make sure our chapter is being run according
to your expectations. Demand excellence - ensure
that we are setting and achieving our goals, and constantly improving.
This is meant to be Hard-Core, Hands-On Business Management &
Leadership training for our Actives - so don't hold back - be
tough, drill these guys. Remember, we're not just training the
future leaders of our fraternity, we're training the future leaders
of our country.

| The new IST building that almost led to
our demise is now playing a major role in our comeback! |
Meeting Location,
a little History, and some cool Triva...
If you haven't been back to Penn Sate for
a while, one of the first things that will shock you is the brand
new IST (Information Sciences and Technology) building that sits
directly adjacent to our property. The IST building is designed
to be the center point of the Penn State campus and is why Penn
State was so interested in our property - now one of the most,
if not the most valuable property on the Penn Sate Campus.

| Vice President Elliott
Skrinjar '05 performs a systems test during a dry-run of our
Homecoming '04 presentation |
Just prior to Homecoming '04, Alumni Corporation
President, Randy Thompson '83, asked Active Chapter
Vice President, Elliott Skrinjar '05 to locate
a screen and projector for his planned Homecoming Alumni Corporation
presentation. Elliott, an IST major, had just listened to a presentation
by Michael Dell in the brand new, sate-of-the-art Cybertorium
in the IST Building. Elliott thought that this new high-tech venue
might be a great location for our meetings and pitched the idea
to his professor, Dr. Gerry Santoro. As it turns out, Dr. Santoro
(a Penn State alum) was very familiar with our situation and gladly
volunteered the Cybertorium for our meeting, stating something
to the effect: “I was really happy that you guys were
able to keep your house. I remember when I was in college and
would come over to the Phi Delt house. I always had a great time
over there.”
So the building that almost led to our demise
is now playing a major role in our comeback. Thanks Dr. Santoro
and Penn State!
