Return to Glory Presentation for Homecoming Alumni Corporation Annual Meeting

Return to Glory Presentation

This is the PowerPoint presentation given at our Homecoming Alumni Corporation Meeting that lead to a unanimous vote in favor of our Return to Glory Campaign.

The presentation focuses on the "facts" we've learned over the past six months since the Centennial Corporation Meeting and our recommendation to proceed with our Return to Glory Campaign.

This is just a start. With some more work and financial backup, this could evolve into a good fundraising document and presentation. This could also be turned into an automated online presentation with an audio track. Any suggestions?

This is the Banner we made for Homecoming. Obviously, we wanted to welcome our alumni, family, and friends back home, but we also wanted to test the concept of making inexpensive reusable Banners that can be used throughout the year for different occasions.

Overall, the concept was a success. The banner was designed in Adobe Illustrator and printed at FastSigns for approximately $150.

Unfortunately, we didn't have access to extension ladders when we put it up, so we attached it at ground level and pulled it up by ropes from the roof. This was a hassle and I wouldn't recommend doing it this way again. Two guys with two extension ladders could easily put one up or take one down in about 1/2 hour. Our method to secure it worked perfectly - with ropes around the back of the pillars connected by 4' bungee cords.

Newsletter, Envelope, Form   .zip   6.5M
Newsletter Only   .doc   6M

This was our first newsletter since our house was sold. It was critical to get our members attention, show major changes are underway, and prove our fraternity is here to stay. We had six main goals:

  1. Announce the sale was officially stopped
  2. Show major changes are underway
  3. Invite members to Homecoming
  4. Raise money for our Annual Fund
  5. Direct members to our website
  6. Gather news from our alumni

To emphasize major changes are underway, we intentionally broke-the-mold from our previous newsletters - The Phi News. We chose a completely different format and even changed the name to match our website. The package came in a large 9"x12" envelope with a picture of the house, an invitation to homecoming, our website address, and our slogan "Return to Glory" printed on it. The newsletter is sixteen 8.5" x 11" full-color pages (eight pieces of paper printed both sides) and loaded with pictures. The package also contained a personalized Annual Fund Form that even had the members class picture printed on it if we had it in our database.

Annual Fund Form

To save time and money, we produced (writing, editing, printing, mailing) the entire package in-house. The package was sent to approximately 850 members at a total cost of about $3,500. Once things settle down in the future, we can save money by only printing and mailing newsletters to alumni who don't have internet addresses and access to our website.

Based on feedback and donations (already almost twice any previous year), we consider the mailing to be very successful and we believe we have accomplished our goals. Great work everyone!
